My design work

Smart wallets and smart accounts exploded in 2023 due to ERC-4337. This new wave allowed many Web3 solutions to abstract away technical and complex layers that end-users didn't necessarily need to know in order to onboard. This is how MetaMask incorporated 4337 into our wallet.

As part of ERC-4337 (account abstraction), ERC-7715 (new permission standard), and the smart wallets landscape, we found that end-users & dApp developers alike desired a way to manage their smart accounts within MetaMask.

Starting in 2022, Dan began speaking about the Delegatable Framework. This new framework answered several usability issues that end-users currently face in Web3: technicalities of confirmation dialogues, manual approvals, and more. Key competitors had already transitioned their pricing models to compute units. Users were able to create unlimited free accounts, hurting our conversion rates and revenue opportunities. Read more on how we solved for this pressing business need.
